MedStar Health is excited to announce the Lung Cancer 2018: Progress and Future Directions conference will be taking place at the Wink Hotel in Washington, DC on December 8, 2018. We are pleased to present this conference with the endorsement of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). This one-day symposium will provide a comprehensive update on recent advances in the care of patients with thoracic malignancies. With the rapid advances in thoracic oncology, this symposium attempts to crystallize current knowledge and provide critical information and key take-home points to the busy practicing clinician involved in the care of patients with thoracic malignancies. Key focus topics will include guidelines to establish an effective clinically oriented smoking cessation program, the changes to lung cancer staging using the IASLC 8th edition guidelines, novel diagnostic tools such as robotic bronchoscopy, patient selection for multi-modality therapy in locally advanced lung cancer including surgical controversies and role of immunotherapy and proton beam radiation, advances in the biology and management of small cell lung cancer, and recent advances in immuno-oncology and targeted therapies in lung cancer. The symposium will also focus on strategies to detect and manage toxicities of immunotherapy for nurses and pharmacists. Attendees are eligible to receive up to 6.25 Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change. I am reaching out on behalf of Course Directors Deepa S. Subramaniam, MD, MSc and Giuseppe Giaccone, MD, PhD to see if you are able to promote this program to your members. Attached is the event brochure for your review and to share with colleagues. For additional information and registration details please visit CE.MedStarHealth.org/LungCancer. Please let us know if you are able to promote the conference by adding our event to your calendar and sharing with others who may be interested in attending.
